Personal information is any information that identifies you or your policies or contracts. Personal information may include the following: (1) a first and last name; (2) a home or other physical address, including street name and name of a city or town; (3) an email address; (4) a telephone number; (5) a social security number; (6) a bank account number; (7) a credit or debit card number; (8) claims information; (9) any other identifier that permits the physical or online contacting of a specific individual; (10) information concerning a user that a website, mobile application, or online service collects from the user and maintains in personally identifiable form in combination with an identifier listed above.
As a general principle, the Company will not automatically collect personal information from users of the Site and Mobile App. Personal information is collected only when knowingly and voluntarily submitted by you. We will ask for personal information, such as your name and email address, when you submit an information request form or request services that require registration, such as subscribing to American National Email Updates. This information is used for a variety of business purposes, including quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and upgrading website advertising and product content to better serve you and your insurance needs.
We may collect certain non-personal information (such as your internet browser, your computer or mobile device operating system, your IP address, your internet service provider address, crash reports, navigation paths, and usage statistics) though the use of third party data collection software. We may use such non-personal information for internal purposes, including improving your access to and content of the Site and Mobile App.
When you download or use the Mobile App, we may receive non-personal information about your location and your mobile device (such as the unique identifier for your mobile device and your device settings). This information helps us provide you with location-based services, search results, and other personalized content. If you do not want us to use location information, you can change your location settings on your mobile device to prevent the sharing of that information. Please note that certain features may not function properly or at all as a result of disabling the location settings.
The Mobile App may send you push notifications to provide updates and other service related information. If you wish to opt-out of receiving push notifications, you can disable them at the device level.
Any personal information stored on our systems is protected from unauthorized access by appropriate physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to maintain the confidentiality and security of your personal information. In addition, we hold our employees and business partners to strict standards when collecting, reviewing, or working with your personal information. The Company will not sell or disclose your personal information submitted through the Site or Mobile App to any non-affiliated third parties for marketing purposes. In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to disclose your personal information in order to identify, contact, or bring legal action against persons causing injury to or interfering with your rights, our rights, or the rights of other users of the Site, Mobile App, or our services. No such disclosure will be made, however, unless the Company believes in good faith that such disclosure is permitted or required by law.
Your Site and Mobile App account is password protected so that only you can access the account and view information related to your policies or contracts. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. No authorized representative of the Company will ever ask you for your password in an unsolicited contact, telephone call, or email. Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your password and your Site and Mobile App account information.
Please remember to sign out of or log off the Site or Mobile App and then close your browser window or mobile application when you have finished accessing the Site or Mobile App. This will help ensure that others cannot access your Site and Mobile App account if your computer or mobile device is accessible to them, you share a computer or mobile device with someone else, or you are using a computer or mobile device in a public place.
The Company uses certain technology to encrypt or otherwise protect your personal information. However, we cannot guarantee the security of all information transmitted over the internet. Although the Company strives to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from our online products and services. These transmissions are undertaken at your sole risk.
